Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

star_wars_iv___a_new_hope___movie_poster_by_nei1b-d5t3cw9Princess Lia is captured while trying to get the tech specs for the Death Star to the Rebel Alliance. Then is saved by Obi-wan, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, and Han Solo. Together they out run the Empire to bring the plans to the Rebels to find a weakness, the only one they can find is an exhaust port, which when going after they lose almost every ship they sent in, but they destroyed the Death Star. It was a good movie the only real problem I had was the transitions, the CG was good, acting was good, it was just the transitions. The everything else was good, then they put a lame transition it between scenes, when this was kind of a futuristic movie, they still could have had better transitions. Good acting, plot, characters, little to no mistakes while filming (Crossing the 180˚ line). They had a budget of 11,000,000 or $42,460,000 in today’s money, so they had the money to use to select different transitions, just saying.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Indiana-Jones-RaidersIndiana Jones starts of trying to get a Mayan Idol, then goes overseas on a quest to find the legendary Ark of the Covenant (resting place of the Ten Commandments). In my opinion its a good movie with lots of action. But in today’s standards its still a good movie but a little dated, its being set back in WWII. Now that being said, he didn’t make a lot of mistakes while filming (crossing 180˚ line, not wasting camera shots, or small things like that) that I saw. There was a couple theoretical mistakes, when they went to open the Ark, one of two things should have happened; one they should have brought it back to Berlin to Hitler to open, for he ordered them to find it not to test it. And the other thing that should have happened was, if they were going to open it why not when the raised it from the well of souls to make sure they could stop looking. Still a good movie I think the best of this franchise, though that is just my opinion. Do I think it could have been better? Yes, I do, but this is a 1981 film, when action was just starting to pick up. But for this time period it it great.

Font Can Improve Your Video

Article: 4 Easy Tips for Formatting Fonts

Basically the article says that even if fonts don’t make or break your movie they do make a difference. They can make you look more professional and help relay your overall message. The four best things to remember when picking fonts is be bold, be careful when choosing colors, consistency is key, and stop short.

I learned that using consistency when using multiple graphic can help you look less like an ameteur. Also not to use cool or pretty fonts in they’re hard to see because it will make the video harder to understand. Choose colors that go well with the background, this will also help people read it easier. Lastly don’t write/ have them read to much, they may lose interest, if theres a lot to say it would be more entertaining to use a voice over.

In my upcoming videos I plan to use consistent titles, colors, and transitions in each video. Hopefully this will make my videos seem more professional. Also to continue using voice overs because they seem to be the best way to relay information without losing interest.

How to make good footage on an Smartphone

Vid

Using smart phones is a really good Idea because I you would use it all the time and any were you go.

“Recording good footage means keeping the smartphone as stable as possible. Fortunately there’s a wide range of tripods available for your smartphones, allowing you to capture the best footage possible.

Managing your sound is also important when shooting with your phone. Recording sound with a phone’s built-in microphone isn’t the best way to tell your story. The sound captured won’t be ideal and could harm the overall quality of your video. External devices exist to alleviate this problem, and we suggest using them. If you record with the internal mic, make sure you’re in a quiet area (limit background noise) with your actors close to the phone, er camera.”

GoPro Hero3 (Black Edition)

Have you ever wanted to record yourself snowboarding down an intense hill, but didn’t want to carry 10-20 pounds of camera equipment well with the GoPro Hero3 Black edition you won’t have to worry about things like that again.

The GoPro Hero3 Black edition weighs at 4.8 oz, it’s also small enough to fit into your pocket or bag. The GoPro Hero3 Black edition has so many different features that are very useful in your expedition or trip. If you want to record yourself going on a motorcycle trip you can even attach the GoPro onto the front of your motorcycle with the suction cup attachment.

Over the years the GoPro has been getting upgrades and the best part of the Hero3 Black edition is that it has a stronger, faster wifi built into the camera itself. The Hero3 Black edition also comes with a wifi remote that can be used to start and stop filming up to 50 different cameras at a time.

After a long day of filming you need to bring the film itself and upload it to a major editing software to get your footage together how you want it. Though you don’t need to pay money for the editing softwares because the Hero3 comes with a free software to help convert your footage and edit it.

2/14 Update & After Vacation Update (2/24)

Over vacation I planed to work on putting my songs with names for my promo video. Also I planed to think of what I would do my web series over, and what my first edition of the web series. I also planed to try a video in my collection that is also on the AFI’s List. I did most of that, and I have planed to do a web series featuring big builds in minecraft, and to review servers starting with MyFallen. I have all the song names ready to go, and hope to put all the subtitles into the video this week. I didn’t find the movies on the AFI list yet, but there are still movies in my house that I didn’t check yet, I can always go to the library to check them out if needed.

Week of 3/7

I have finished my promotional video, I will be showing it to my dad to see if there are any changes needed to be made, and will write my critique for it this weekend. I will watch Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, and write my critique for it, I will also watch Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, and write a critique for that movie too. Next Week I plan to hopefully start the Shaw Challenge.

El Mariachi Review

For anyone who makes videos or is planning on making videos you must watch El Mariachi. The film has captivating action scenes and manages to entertain through out. With a budget of no more than $7,000, Robert Rodriguez manages to tell a tale of bloodshed, love and betrayal. People would say that the film was a miracle, but it truly was

nothing short of Rodriguez’s sheer genius. What Rodriguez did with El Mariachi is comparable to what Spielberg did with Jaws. It was ambitious, ballsy and well made. Check out some more fun facts on the film in the link below.

Copy right!!!!!!!!

Mark Levy. Videomaker Magazine “The Internet is Free, Right? What Can You Legally Use?”

The article was a talking about cope righting and what is copyrighting and what is not copyright. Copy righting is when you take more then one word or you take something that is not yours and you claim it is yours. There are some things that you can take that is not copyrighting like there are some music web sites that you can get music for free.

“The Internet is merely a medium for distributing content; like newspapers, magazines, books, films, radio, television, satellite broadcasts, and DVDs. The difference, of course, is that the Internet has the potential to reach hundreds of millions of viewers immediately and simultaneously. When it comes to the Copyright Act, though, that does not represent a significant difference. Just because it’s “public” doesn’t mean it’s in the public domain Levy. ”

Green Screens

Have you ever lived in one location, but wanted to visit another, well with a Green Screen you can do so. The many wonders of the Green Screen is you can have the illusion of actually going to any location in the world or universe within a few seconds with Green Screens, without actually going to that location.

You can do many many things with the Green Screen, but why the color green, why can’t we use blue or even red. Well you can use other colors, but green is the best color to use for it beats blue, one of the more common screens, because green isn’t a color that is worn everyday by actors, so you could put green spots on the actors clothing and there’s be a hole in there body when you added the background.

Some of you may be asking “What do I need to get for a Green Screen” well I can tell you that you’ll need a Green background, bright even lighting and a tripod to lock your camcorder in place. For the Background you could either get bright green cloth (straight and flat) or you could paint a smooth wall with a gallon of dinosaur green from the kids section. For the lighting it could be tricky to get bright even lighting, but as long as you have two different lighting sources that are moveable you should be all set.
